Q: What is the difference between home health care and in-home care?
A: Home health care is usually paid for by Medicare or your health care insurance and is usually for a very limited amount of time following hospitalization. When the home health care agency visits, they are only there for specific duties and are usually only in the home for a brief visit. They are not typically visiting daily and are not normally there any longer than an hour. home health care must be ordered by your physician and must meet very specific guidelines. In-home care is individualized and may be requested by anyone. Health care insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid typically do NOT pay for in-home care. However long-term care policies may sometimes pay for the daily activities such as bathing, dressing, oral care, meal preparation, housekeeping, laundry, medical escorts, and much more.
Q: What type of people use in-home care?
A: All types of people with varying needs! Many of our Angel Care clients are seniors who desire to live as independently as possible and stay in their own home. These seniors have a wide variety of physical challenges such as hip fractures, broken bones, arthritis, paralysis, amputations, etc. We also have many clients who suffer from Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, diabetes, cardiac disease, pulmonary disease, and more. We also have clients who wish to have companionship with someone they can depend on to escort them to social events, exercise or therapy programs, meetings, doctor’s appointments, and more. Sometimes they enjoy simply having lunch and maybe shopping!
